Benefits of Prenatal Massage?

Prenatal massage can help with many normal pregnancy related complaints, such as sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, low back and hip pain, anxiety, depression and insomnia. Our focus areas may change with every treatment, just as your body is changing every week!

Benefits of Postnatal Massage?

Postnatal massage can help with any leftover pregnancy related complaints, as well as any new problem areas. Your muscles may be sore or stiff from labour or breastfeeding, so we can focus there to start. Any massage I offer is 100% customizable; I'm more than willing to create a treatment plan with you and ensure we are focussing on the areas you need it. No two people are the same and neither are their treatment plans. For postnatal massage we can also use the prenatal bolster to ensure the most comfort - nobody wants to lay directly on their sore breasts or tender tummy! Side-lying is also an option. You will need to receive clearance for massage from your doctor if you had a cesarean birth. You are welcome to bring your baby with you if that makes it easier for you as well.

How is a prenatal massage different from a regular massage?

Pillows, cushions and bolsters! We will use an assortment of pillows and bolsters to make sure that you are comfortable. There are a few options position-wise; side-lying, on your back or face down with the use of a prenatal bolster. Depending on how far along you are and your comfort level, we will use pillows to prop you up while you're on your back. The prenatal bolster has a cutout for your belly and breasts, allowing you to lay on your belly safely and comfortably. If you're uncomfortable we can use the side-lying position and pillows to ensure your comfort. There are plenty of options and tricks we can use to promote a safe, comfortable and relaxing massage experience!

How has your practice changed because of Covid-19?

I have always kept my treatment space clean but with the Covid-19 virus, I have increased the frequency of my cleaning and sanitizing practices. For my home based massage practice, I clean all touch points in between clients and both myself and my clients are expected to wear masks. I have an en-suite bathroom attached to my treatment room, allowing for easy access to a bathroom. For mobile massage, I bring my cleaning supplies with me and will still disinfect my table and anything I touch, the same as I do at home. Masks are expected for mobile massage as well.
